CTM Fee Reduction Backed by Member States
The official registration fee is to be abolished and the official application fee will rise slightly.
A significant overall fee reduction has now been approved which will have an effect on the cost of obtaining trade mark protection throughout the European Union via a CTM application.
It is anticipated that the fee reductions will take effect within a matter of weeks.
The headline details are as follows:
- The official registration fee is to be abolished (currently the registration fee is EUROS 850 in a case with up to 3 Classes of goods/services)
- The official application fee for an electronically-filed CTM application will rise slightly from EUROS 750 to EUROS 900 (again, for a case with up to 3 Classes of goods/services)
- These changes will obviously have significant financial benefits for users of the CTM system.
